Explorations is a daily choice class combining students from first through fifth grade. There are usually six to eight special-interest topics to choose from – allowing for the opportunity of in-depth study of various topics including: Computer technology, Paper Engineering, Recycle Art, Miniature Book Making, Fiber Arts, Rainforest Ecology, Dramatic Arts, Multicultural themes, and Earthkeeping for Kids. These classes allow kids to explore their personal interests during daily classes they choose for themselves
Explorations classes focus on the seven intelligences as described by Howard Gardner: mathematical/logical, musical, linguistic, body kinesthetic, visual, interpersonal, and intrapersonal. The standard curriculum of basic skills (reading, writing and math) may not excite a child who is very musical, athletic, or artistic. Explorations classes are the highlight of the school day for many students.
